Hey Beautiful!
As of yesterday’s solstice, we’re newly in Capricorn season! It’s a perfect sign for winter because Capricorn rules things that are cold, dry, and barren like the tundra. But this year we get a little sweetness added to the mix when Venus enters Capricorn on Wednesday! Venus is classically the planet of love, beauty, and femininity. Venus in the sign of Capricorn always makes me think of a tailored women’s suit—she’s a pretty boss.
This week’s oracle card is right on time for Venus entering the sign of Capricorn on Christmas Eve. I pulled the card first before I checked the astrology. As soon as I saw Venus in Capricorn, I instantly made the connection between desire and ambition.
This is amplified by Mars, which has already been in Capricorn for a few days at this point. Mars is fire in the belly, the drive, passion, and motivation. I like that we have both the yang and the yin planets in Capricorn now so we can harness the balance of the two!
The oracle card is number 10 - “Oshun’s Desire: Passion, Longing, Drive” from the Faces of Oshun Oracle deck. Venus and Mars together in Capricorn definitely resonate with those themes! Together, these speak of having the energy and motivation to pursue your passions and desires, especially vocational ones.

Vocation is a Capricorn theme. Merriam-Webster describes the etymology of the word vocation: “a summons from God to perform a particular task or function in life” and “the strong desire to do a certain kind of work.” Vocation comes from a Latin word which means “to call,” so a vocation can also be considered a calling.
This vocational desire doesn’t have to be career related in the way we typically think of in our modern society. It can be a hobby or favorite pastime or community endeavor you’re called to do purely for pleasure or personal fulfillment. And it can be explicitly career related, especially during Capricorn season.
Another synchronistic detail about this card is the numerology of 10, which simplifies to a 1. Capricorn is the 10th sign of the Zodiac, and as a cardinal sign definitely has that yang 1 energy. As we transition toward 2026, a universal 1 year, these symbols remind us to embrace the yang, assertive energy of the number 1 that blazes it’s own individual path. It’s a call to authentic desire and genuine passion, rather than pursuing something merely because it’s expected of us or because it’s trending.
The beautiful thing, though, is that as individually focused as 1 energy is, it’s that very sense of individuality that allows us to be most of service to others. It serves no one, really, for us to walk a path that’s not truly ours.
As Venus begins her trek through Capricorn this week, here are a few gifts she might bring us as we turn the page on a brand new calendar year.

Venus In Capricorn Christmas Gifts: Flair, Flowers, Flow
Add Artistic Flair
Let yourself get inspired to add some artistic flair, to anything, but especially things that are typically sterile or sparse. Jazz it up, even if it’s in a very traditional way. This can be done visually, and also through sound, smell, taste, and touch!
Give Your Flowers
Venus is flowers and Capricorn is hard work and success. Give yourself and others your flowers for your dedication. Celebrate the success with a sweet treat. And if you experienced failure, still give your flowers for having the courage to make the effort!
Flow and Focus
Follow your passion and desire with dedication and focus. Whether it’s career or vocational passion or simply your desire for pleasure and play… show up fully present and prepared to enter a flow state.
Open Mic 🎤
All this talk about Venus and vocations reminds me of Audre Lorde’s essay “Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power”
“For the erotic is not a question only of what we do; it is a question of how acutely and fully we can feel in the doing. Once we know the extent to which we are capable of feeling that sense of satisfaction and completion, we can observe which of our various life endeavors bring us closest to that fullness.”
“And that deep and irreplaceable knowledge of my capacity for joy comes to demand from all of my life that it be lived within the knowledge that such satisfaction is possible…”
Sincerely,
