Welcome into the Café!

Several weeks ago, I asked someone close to me if she would share a dream with me that I could use for an assignment in my dream mentorship class.

She replied enthusiastically: “Girl, you must be psychic! I just wrote down my dream from last night because it was so strange.” She immediately sent it to me.

I replied to her: “Well, maybe you’re the psychic one, since you had a dream, remembered it, and thought to write it down just hours before I’d ask to interpret a dream for you...” Seemed to me like her subconscious was already prepared for my request.

Whether your psychic message comes through in a dream, a line from a song you “randomly” think about, an inexplicable knowing, or just a hunch, try being more open to the deeper wisdom reaching you this week.

Doing the Deeper Work

As I continue raising awareness about my book, I’ve seen the need to return to direct coaching to guide people through the deeper work of healing, unlearning, and raising their advocacy against colorism. My Colorism Reflections & Revisions course is not a lecture on what colorism is. My book does that!

This course is a structured series of activities that brings you to a customized action plan that fits your personality, your gifts and abilities, your lifestyle, and your goals. The course provides you with direct coaching, support, and quantitative and qualitative tools as you work through your individual action plan, refining as we go. Email me or hit reply to this email, and we’ll discuss how you can get started!

Flavor of the Week 😋 Psychic & Psychology

This week we get a waning quarter moon in the zodiac sign of Cancer, a deeply intuitive water sign. All water signs are inherently intuitive because it’s the nature of water to be tapped in (pun intended). Cancer also pertains to our sense of safety and our ability to feel at home within ourselves, amongst our people, and within other areas of life. With these two themes in mind, I ask the question:

Do you feel safe acknowledging and exploring your intuition or intuitive powers, also known as psychic powers?

Even my use of that word, psychic, might rattle some folks who’ve been taught to fear this word. People tend to be a little more comfortable with intuition, yet even intuition is viewed as an alien concept to many.

Who stands to gain from you not believing in or trusting your own intuition?

Cancer is also a cardinal sign that leads and initiates. I think of it as a river—water that moves with direction and purpose. Cancer energy flows…

But with this moon moving into a square with the planet Saturn, it’s like this flowing river meets a dam. This dam obstructing your emotional and intuitive flow may have been your own construction, placed there in the distant past in reaction to fear or trauma. It may have been placed there by someone or something else, like social programming, parental conditioning, or even past-life karma.

Saturn retrograde can actually support us in deconstructing this block, no matter how long it’s been there. Saturn retrograde in Aries specifically can help us take a hard look at our sense of personal freedom and personal identity and how we’ve placed restrictions on ourselves out of fear or worry for survival, or how we’ve submitted to external restrictions imposed by others.

In popular culture we see this in how some Black and Brown people feel restricted in how we present ourselves to the public. Many feel obliged to straighten our hair or compelled to bleach our skin to avoid discrimination or negative judgement. A lot of my work unpacks the ways we internalize these external judgements and begin to judge ourselves according to those same oppressive standards.

We all have something like this, including negative judgements about the natural expression of our emotions, the natural expression of our spiritual nature and spiritual gifts, or just the natural expression of our authentic personalities. We repress these aspects of ourselves due to social structures, family traditions, and various forms of trauma and conditioning from parents or other authority figures.

We feel judged, so we judge, and dam up the natural flow and expression of who we are.

Sometimes we’ve done this for so long that we don’t consciously remember who we really are. But your soul never forgets. Your soul always knows your truth.

We get more supportive energy this week with the moon making trines to Mercury and Venus in the fellow water sign of Scorpio, which deals with depth, death, transformation, mediumship, thinning of the veil, and deep emotional and psychological processes. With Mercury, the planet of communication in the sign of Scorpio, we can more readily find insightful and transformational messages about our own psyche and internal world.

Mercury and Venus will both retrograde in Scorpio, so there will be returns to these conversations, reviewing them, understanding something with a different perspective. Mercury retrograde in Scorpio, especially, is like the quote that says, “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

Mercury and Venus together is also head and heart coherence, the pairing of yin and yang, the balance of masculine and feminine. These planets can work together in Scorpio, especially with the passing connection to the Moon in Cancer, to facilitate wise communication, deeper emotional truth, and psychological inquiry.

An elementary assumption about psychic ability is that it means someone is always all-knowing. But that’s not what psychic ability is. Psychic ability works a lot more like my new pair of Nocs binoculars. The binoculars will never show me everything, but what I focus on, I can see with much greater clarity than I can without the binoculars. Psychic ability merely shows us more, sometimes a lot more, but it doesn’t make us omniscient, all-knowing or all-seeing.

And of course, everyone’s psychic ability is unique to them!
