Since November, I’ve been in a dream mentorship program. In today’s session we discussed how atrophied our imaginative powers become as we get older, especially in Westernized cultures where we’re told to just grow up, to be realistic, to stop daydreaming and get our head out of the clouds.

So when I pulled an oracle card for our Flavor of the Week, I was tickled pink to get “The Romance Novel” from The Bibliophile Oracle Deck, because I’ve been an avid practitioner of romanticizing my everyday life. It’s what I call “magic in the mundane.”

The authors of the deck and guidebook speak of romance with a particular person as well as romancing life itself. They invite us to daydream, fantasize, and fall in love with life. Indulge in the romantic gestures for someone else, for others, and for yourself, big and small, sweet and savory.
